A mother and daughter duo are gearing up to walk over hot coals in support of mental health charity, Mid and North East Essex Mind.
Ginny Idehen, the CEO of the charity, and her 12-year-old daughter, Katherine, will be participating in the firewalk event at Beth Chatto Gardens in Elmstead Market on November 6. This daring challenge is not new to Ginny, who described her previous firewalk experience as euphoric. She emphasized the importance of mindset in overcoming challenges, drawing parallels between the firewalk and the daily struggles faced by individuals dealing with mental health issues.
For Katherine, this firewalk is an opportunity to confront her fear of big fires while contributing to a cause that is close to her heart. Despite her apprehension, she is determined to support those in need of mental health services and raise funds for the charity. Together, they have already collected £100 in sponsorships, kickstarting their fundraising efforts.
The firewalk event is scheduled to take place from 6:30pm to 9pm, offering participants an unforgettable experience. Those interested in joining the firewalk are required to register with a fee of £35 per person or £120 for a team of four. Participants will be treated to a wood-fired oven pizza and receive a certificate to commemorate their courageous act.
In addition to the registration fee, firewalkers are encouraged to raise £100 for Mid and North East Essex Mind, contributing to the vital mental health services provided by the charity. Those looking to support Ginny and Katherine can visit their JustGiving page to make a donation.
This unique fundraising initiative not only aims to raise essential funds for mental health support but also sheds light on the importance of mental wellbeing. By challenging themselves to walk over hot coals, Ginny and Katherine are setting an inspiring example of bravery and compassion.
