The Lincoln and surrounding areas will be benefiting from new and improved bus services starting in September, including a late-night service. The Lincolnshire County Council has been collaborating with local bus companies for several months to enhance the county’s bus services. These new services are being introduced during Catch the Bus Month, an initiative aimed at promoting the advantages of bus travel and exploring Lincolnshire in a hassle-free manner. Councillor Richard Davies, executive member for transport at Lincolnshire County Council, expressed his excitement about the increased frequency and extended operating hours of the buses due to the Bus Service Improvement Plan funding provided by the council.
The new late-night bus service will run between Lincoln, Bracebridge Heath, Branston, Heighington, and Washingborough. Operating as the 1E and 2E services by Stagecoach, these buses will be available hourly from 8.15pm to 12.15am, Monday to Saturday. Additionally, a new Stagecoach 12A service will connect Lincoln, Nettleham, Dunholme, and Welton from 7.30pm to 11.30pm, Monday to Saturday. The Stagecoach Interconnect 53 route between Lincoln, Market Rasen, and Grimsby will also see hourly services throughout the full route from Monday to Saturday. PC Coaches will be enhancing their bus services on routes 48/49 between Lincoln and Witham St Hughs, providing direct access to more areas like Eagle, North Scarle, and Whisby with a revised timetable operating Monday to Saturday.
These improvements in bus services aim to cater to the needs of current bus users and attract new riders to choose bus travel as a convenient way to navigate Lincolnshire. With increased frequency, extended operating hours, and more direct routes, residents and visitors alike can benefit from a more efficient and accessible public transportation system in the region. The collaborative efforts between the Lincolnshire County Council and local bus companies reflect a commitment to enhancing the overall transportation experience for individuals in the community.
As public transportation plays a vital role in reducing traffic congestion, promoting environmental sustainability, and providing accessibility to various destinations, the introduction of these new and improved bus services is a step towards creating a more connected and efficient transportation network in Lincolnshire. By encouraging more people to utilize bus travel through initiatives like Catch the Bus Month, the community can experience the benefits of a ‘stress-free’ way to explore and commute within the region. The ongoing support and engagement of current and potential bus users will be crucial in sustaining the success of these enhanced bus services and fostering a culture of public transportation utilization in Lincolnshire.
