Travellers passing through London Stansted Airport were given the opportunity to participate in free CPR training sessions on October 16. This initiative was organized by Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) in honor of National Restart a Heart Day, a global event led by the Resuscitation Council with the goal of increasing the number of people who survive out-of-hospital cardiac arrests by providing them with essential CPR skills.

From 7am to 7pm, EHAAT’s critical care paramedics, pre-hospital care doctors, charity team members, and volunteers were on hand to teach travellers the necessary steps to take in the event of a cardiac arrest. Adam Carr, EHAAT’s clinical community lead and critical care paramedic, emphasized the importance of empowering individuals to act in emergency situations, stating that the goal of Restart a Heart Day is to ensure that more people feel confident and prepared to assist someone experiencing a cardiac arrest.

Anita Harrison, customer operations director at London Stansted, expressed her delight in supporting EHAAT’s event at the airport to commemorate National Restart a Heart Day. She highlighted the airport’s commitment to passenger safety and the significant impact that raising awareness about CPR can have on saving lives.

The free CPR training sessions provided travellers with valuable skills that could potentially make a difference in life-threatening situations. By equipping more people with the knowledge and confidence to perform CPR, events like this contribute to creating a safer environment for all individuals, whether they are at an airport or in their local community. It is crucial for people to be prepared and willing to help others in times of need, and initiatives like the one at London Stansted Airport play a key role in promoting this sense of responsibility and community support.
