Jake Quickenden, a well-known reality TV star, took on the role of hosting a glamorous charity ball at Stoke by Nayland Golf Club. The event aimed to raise funds for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and managed to collect an impressive £16,000 in total.
Around 200 guests attended the black-tie affair, enjoying a delicious three-course meal, live music, and engaging in a raffle and auction. Some of the prizes up for grabs included a week-long holiday in Cape Verde, a luxurious stay at a top London hotel, and a stunning diamond necklace.
The mastermind behind this successful charity event was Vicky Hicks, who had previously organized a similar gathering in October 2021. Her hard work and dedication paid off, as the evening went off without a hitch. Vicky expressed her gratitude for everyone’s generosity, including Jake Quickenden, who not only hosted the event but also shared his personal stories of loss to cancer.
In addition to supporting East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, a portion of the funds raised will be donated to Kids Inspire, another deserving cause. Vicky’s inspiration to help EACH stemmed from a visit to the Treehouse hospice in Ipswich back in 2019, where she was deeply moved by the work being done there.
To supplement the charity ball, Vicky, along with her family and friends, embarked on a 15-mile fundraising walk from Walton Pier to Clacton Pier and back. This additional effort showcases Vicky’s commitment to making a difference in the lives of those in need.
Anna Bruce, EACH’s senior community fundraiser for Suffolk and East Essex, commended Vicky for her tremendous efforts and the substantial amount of money raised. The success of the charity ball would not have been possible without the support of the attendees who purchased tickets, participated in the raffle, and engaged in the lively auction.
Overall, the celebrity-hosted charity ball was a resounding success, not only in terms of the funds raised but also in bringing the community together for a worthy cause. The spirit of generosity and support displayed at the event is a testament to the kindness and goodwill present in the local community.
