The mayor of Colchester is still buzzing from a heart-pumping skydive at 13,000ft with the Red Devils parachute display team. Jessica Scott-Boutell, a fearless 30-year-old, took on this epic challenge for charity at Netheravon Airfield in Wiltshire last Friday.
Jessica’s adventure began after meeting the Red Devils at a Support Our Paras dinner in Colchester last August. Inspired by their bravery and skill, she decided to fundraise for five different charities close to her heart, including Colchester Pride, the Royal Association for Deaf People, Guts UK, Support Our Paras, and RSPCA Essex Mid and North.
Approaching the big day, Jessica admitted to feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. Stepping into the unknown world of skydiving, she was determined to conquer her fears and raise money for those in need.
Despite a short delay due to overcast weather, Jessica finally boarded the plane with Corporal Henry Mole by her side. With over 3,000 jumps under his belt, she knew she was in safe hands.
As they ascended into the clear skies, Jessica’s adrenaline soared. The exhilarating rush of freefalling towards the earth left her breathless but exhilarated. She couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride for overcoming her fears and supporting such important causes.
Following her successful jump, Jessica’s GoFundMe page has already raised £870 of her £1,000 target. Grateful for the generosity of donors, she encourages others to contribute to the ongoing fundraiser.
Reflecting on the experience, Jessica’s mother and Colchester mayor, Lesley Scott-Boutell, expressed her pride in her daughter’s courage. She commended Jessica for stepping out of her comfort zone to support their shared charities and thanked the Red Devils for their care and support throughout the unforgettable day.
The skydive was not just a thrill-seeking adventure but a testament to Jessica’s dedication to making a difference in her community. As she continues to raise funds for those in need, her bravery and generosity serve as an inspiration to all who know her.
In the end, the skydive was more than just a daredevil stunt—it was a symbol of hope, courage, and compassion. Jessica’s leap of faith has touched the lives of many and will be remembered as a shining example of selflessness and determination.
