Man Sentenced for Threatening Emergency Call Handlers and Vandalizing Police Vehicle

In a shocking turn of events, Dragos Lujinschi, a 38-year-old farmworker, was sentenced to 16 months in prison for threatening to kill emergency call handlers and vandalizing a police vehicle. This disturbing incident unfolded over one and a half months, starting in July and lasting until August, when Lujinschi made numerous phone calls filled with verbal abuse and offensive remarks towards emergency workers.

Threats and Aggression

During one of these calls, Lujinschi brazenly declared, “I have power – speak your address. I have power.” His behavior escalated further when police officers arrived at his residence at Hockley Farm, Alresford, to arrest him. Not only did he subject the officers to threats of violence similar to those he made towards the call handlers, but he also physically lashed out.

Violent Behavior

Upon being placed in a police van, Lujinschi’s aggression intensified as he began “ferociously kicking” the internal cage door, causing damage to the metal bars. The force of his actions was so intense that the officers feared for their safety, as Lujinschi even simulated pulling a gun trigger while making gun noises at them.

Legal Proceedings and Sentencing

During his court appearance via video link from HMP Chelmsford, Lujinschi claimed he had no intention of carrying out the threats he made. He expressed feeling dehumanized when taken into custody, but Judge Nicola Talbot-Hadley emphasized that his actions warranted a custodial sentence due to the risk of reoffending. Ultimately, Lujinschi was sentenced to 16 months in prison, with the possibility of early release after serving 40% of his term.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the serious consequences of threatening behavior towards emergency services and law enforcement. It highlights the importance of maintaining respect and civility in all interactions, especially during moments of distress or conflict. Let us reflect on this incident and strive to treat others with kindness and understanding, even in the face of adversity.
