As Bonfire Night approaches, communities in Essex are preparing for dazzling fireworks displays to light up the skies. Here is a rundown of the upcoming events in and around Colchester.
Castle Park:
King Coel’s Kittens are organizing a fireworks extravaganza at Castle Park, now in its 53rd year. The event is set to take place on November 5, with gates opening at 5.30pm. Attendees can enjoy entertainment until 7pm, followed by a guy parade and the fireworks display at 7.30pm. Tickets are available online for £6.
Nayland:
Head over to Nayland’s Village Hall on Church Lane for a night of bonfire and fireworks on November 5. In addition to the fireworks, guests can indulge in hotdogs, fish and chips, ice cream, and a variety of hot and cold drinks. Limited parking is available across the village, with disabled parking spaces at the village hall. Tickets can be purchased at Nayland shops or online for £6 for adults and £2 for children.
West Mersea:
Waldegrave Family Holiday Park is hosting a free fireworks display above Mersea on November 9. The event will feature hot food stands, a bar, live entertainment, children’s rides, and more. Gates open at 5pm, with the fireworks commencing at 7.30pm. On-site car parking is available for £10 per car (cash only), with proceeds going to local charities.
Kelvedon:
Join St Mary’s School PTFA for a special fireworks display on November 9 in Kelvedon. The event will offer hot food, sweets, hot drinks, games, a raffle, and glow toys. Advance tickets are available for £7 for adults and £4 for children, with on-the-day tickets (subject to availability) priced at £9 for adults and £5 for children. Doors open at 5pm, with the display starting at 6.30pm.
Coggeshall:
Don’t miss the annual St Peter’s Fireworks display in Myneer Park on November 9 in Coggeshall. While enjoying the fireworks, guests can purchase drinks and hot food from the bar and barbeque, as well as visit stalls selling glow sticks. Advance tickets are available for £7.50 for adults, £4 for children, and family tickets for £20. Additional tickets may be available at The Normans sweet shop in Stoneham Street or at the door. Guests can enter between 4.30pm and 5.30pm, with the display beginning at 6pm.
