Meadow Drove in Bourne, a town in Lincolnshire, is set to undergo a major resurfacing project in September. The project, which is estimated to cost £130,000, aims to improve the road and make it safer and more pleasant for travelers. The work will take place from the junction of Main Road/Dyke Drove to the junction of Mill Drove, starting on Wednesday, September 4, and scheduled to finish on Friday, September 13. The working hours will be from Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm, depending on the weather conditions.

Due to the nature of the project, a road closure will be in effect throughout the works, and a diversion route will be set up for drivers. The designated diversion route will guide drivers via Mill Drove, North Road (A15), and Main Road. This closure and diversion are necessary for the safety of both road users and the construction crew involved in the project.

Councillor Richard Davies, the executive member for Highways at Lincolnshire County Council, expressed his excitement about the upcoming improvements. He mentioned that the resurfacing of Meadow Drove will extend the road’s lifespan and enhance the overall travel experience for those using this part of the local road network. The project includes replacing the existing road surface, which has deteriorated over time, and reinstating verges that have been damaged by vehicles.

The council has been actively working on various road improvement projects in and around the Bourne area, and this latest scheme is a part of their ongoing efforts to enhance roads across the county. Councillor Davies acknowledged the inconvenience that the road closure and diversion may cause to residents and drivers but emphasized the importance of these measures for the safety of everyone involved.

In addition to the resurfacing project, the council is also focusing on other aspects of road maintenance and safety. By investing in these improvements, they aim to ensure that the local road infrastructure is in good condition and meets the needs of the community. The council encourages residents and drivers to cooperate and show patience during the construction period, as the ultimate goal is to create a better and safer road environment for all.
