Wivenhoe Woman’s English Wine Business Triumph
A local entrepreneur from Wivenhoe is on a mission to put Essex on the map as the “wine capital” of the UK with her unique business venture. Emma Giles, who works as an NHS commissions manager, has found her passion outside of her day job by delving into the world of English wines.
Emma’s journey into the world of English wines began five years ago when she started exploring the vineyards in Essex and tasting the local wines. The experience ignited a spark in her, leading her to launch The English Wine Company, a business dedicated to promoting and educating people about the quality and variety of English wines.
With a strong belief in the potential of English wines, Emma aims to break the misconception that top-quality wines only come from traditional wine-producing regions. Through her business, she hopes to share her passion for English wines and showcase the hidden gems that exist right in our backyard.
A Taste of English Elegance
At The English Wine Company, Emma curates wine tastings that offer a unique experience for participants. Unlike traditional wine tastings, Emma’s events focus exclusively on English wines, providing a rare opportunity for wine enthusiasts to explore the diverse range of wines produced in the region.
During each tasting event, participants are guided through a sensory journey that teaches them how to properly taste and appreciate the nuances of English wines. Emma’s expertise shines as she shares insights about each wine, including details about the grapes, the vineyards, and what sets each wine apart.
The success of Emma’s first tasting event in Chelmsford speaks volumes about the growing interest in English wines. Guests were impressed by the quality and affordability of the wines they sampled, with many expressing surprise at the richness and complexity of flavors found in English wines.
A Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, Emma has ambitious plans to expand her business and deepen her connections within the local wine community. She envisions hosting more wine tastings in the area, introducing new wines to her customers, and offering private and corporate tasting experiences.
Emma is also keen on forging partnerships with local vineyards in Essex to further promote the region’s winemaking heritage. By collaborating closely with vineyard owners, she hopes to create unique experiences that celebrate the rich diversity of English wines and showcase the craftsmanship behind each bottle.
The next wine tasting event hosted by The English Wine Company will take place in Colchester at Patch on Trinity Street on March 26th at 7.30pm. Tickets for the event are available for purchase online and must be presented at the entry for admission.
