tayside-policing-neglect-criticized-by-murdo-fraser

Scottish Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser ain’t happy with the SNP, calling them out for neglecting policing in Tayside. According to the Scottish Conservatives, more than 300 police stations are in dire need of repairs across bonnie Scotland. A Freedom of Information response from the party reveals that 32 police stations in Tayside are crying out for some TLC or are just plain unfit for purpose. And get this, nearly 100 police stations have been sold off since 2016.

Fraser ain’t holding back, stating that it’s no surprise that officer morale is as low as a snake’s belly when they’re expected to work in run-down and dreadful conditions in Tayside stations. He’s pointing the finger at the SNP, claiming that justice secretaries under their watch have been dropping the ball when it comes to community policing. This, in turn, makes it harder to fight crime and keep local communities safe. Fraser ain’t pleased with the SNP’s budget cuts to policing either, especially when they’ve sold off nearly 100 properties but still can’t find the funds to fix up stations in Tayside.

In Fraser’s own words, “These shocking figures expose the SNP’s sustained neglect of policing in Tayside. People across the region will be dismayed to learn that so many police stations require repairs or are no longer fit for use. It speaks volumes that, even after the SNP’s centralised police force has sold almost 100 buildings since 2016, it still lacks the funding to carry out essential repairs because of severe SNP budget cuts. It is unacceptable that our dedicated officers in Tayside are being asked to work in run-down stations in dreadful condition. No wonder morale is so low when these are the working environments officers are faced with.”

So, there you have it, folks. Fraser ain’t pulling any punches when it comes to calling out the SNP for dropping the ball on policing in Tayside. Let’s hope someone takes notice and gets those stations fixed up real quick.
