Age Well East has announced plans to move its head office from Colchester to Clacton in an effort to address rising costs and reduce overheads. The charity, currently located on North Hill in Colchester, will be relocating to Imperial House on Rosemary Road in Clacton by January 2025.

Despite the move, Age Well East reassures the community that it will continue to provide services to over 4,000 individuals in Colchester and across Essex. These services include befriending, advice and welfare, bereavement support, mental wellbeing, dementia support, and a carers navigation service.

Tom Harrison, the chief executive of Age Well East, emphasized the importance of making wise budget decisions in light of the current economic climate, increasing national insurance costs, and financial challenges faced by the charity sector. He highlighted that the decision to move was influenced by the underutilization of the North Hill building due to the growing trend of remote work.

In addition to the relocation, Age Well East is working on assisting participants of clubs and activities at the North Hill hub in finding suitable alternatives within Colchester. Kelly Le Friant, the fundraising and marketing manager at Age Well East, expressed that the move presents an opportunity for the charity to enhance and expand its support services for community members during a time of growing need.

The decision to relocate the head office from Colchester to Clacton reflects Age Well East’s commitment to operating efficiently and effectively to better serve those who rely on its services. By making strategic decisions to manage costs and optimize resources, the charity aims to ensure the sustainability of its mission and continued support for the community.

As Age Well East prepares for the upcoming move, stakeholders, volunteers, and beneficiaries can expect a seamless transition that will ultimately strengthen the organization’s ability to fulfill its vital role in promoting wellbeing and providing essential support services to individuals in Colchester and beyond. The charity’s dedication to adapting to changing circumstances and prioritizing the needs of those it serves underscores its enduring impact and unwavering commitment to making a difference in the community.
