A flower shop in Elmstead Market, near Colchester, has recently expanded its offerings to include coffee and drinks. Becky Beird, the 46-year-old florist, saw an opportunity to fill a gap in the market for good coffee in the area. She took over the shop in Old Forge Court back in March, after running successful pop-up shops in Wivenhoe and Dedham.

After realizing the lack of quality coffee options in Elmstead Market, Becky decided to invest in training and equipment to offer fresh coffee to the village. Inspired by a similar concept at Little Merchant in Dedham High Street, Becky saw the potential to attract more customers to her flower shop by adding a coffee shop element to it.

Becky underwent barista training to ensure that she could provide top-notch drinks to her customers. The training turned out to be more detailed than she had expected, but she learned a great deal about the coffee-making process. Fresh coffee, hot cocoa, and tea were introduced alongside the beautiful bouquets of fresh flowers on October 15th, and the response from customers has been positive.

As the new venture gains momentum, Becky is excited about the possibility of expanding the menu to include different types of milk and seasonal specials. She is open to feedback from customers and is eager to make adjustments based on their preferences. Becky’s main goal is to make her customers happy and create a welcoming space where they can enjoy both beautiful flowers and delicious drinks.

Looking ahead, Becky is open to the idea of further expanding her offerings based on customer demand. She is committed to providing a unique and enjoyable experience for everyone who walks through the doors of her shop. So, whether you’re in need of a stunning bouquet of flowers or a cozy cup of coffee, Becky’s flower shop in Elmstead Market has got you covered.
