firework-display-to-memorialize-siblings-killed-in-essex-hit-and-run

A community in south Essex is coming together this weekend to honor the lives of two young siblings who tragically lost their lives in a hit-and-run incident. Roman Casselden, 16, and his sister Darcie, 9, were struck by a car while riding an e-scooter on Pitsea’s Ashlyns on February 1st, leaving the community devastated by the loss.

The local residents have organized a heartwarming event to remember the siblings, inviting everyone to a free fireworks display at Pitsea’s Eversley Leisure Centre on Saturday. The event, scheduled to start at 6:45 pm, will include fireworks, music, and a food truck, creating a fitting tribute to Roman and Darcie’s memory.

Brothers’ Heartfelt Gesture

Brothers Jude and Josh Moore have taken it upon themselves to support Roman and Darcie’s family during this difficult time and organize the memorial event. Jude, known for his significant social media presence, expressed his deep connection to the siblings and the desire to help their family cope with the tragedy.

“When it happened, I just thought, how are they going to get through that. I felt like it was my duty to use my social media following and platform to help them out,” Jude shared, highlighting the sense of community and compassion that has emerged in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.

In the immediate aftermath of the accident, the Moore brothers launched an online fundraiser that garnered over £30,000 in donations from not only the local Basildon community but also individuals from across the country and around the world. The overwhelming support has been a source of comfort for the grieving family, alleviating some of the financial burdens they face during this challenging time.

Star-Studded Charity Match

In addition to the fundraising efforts, Jude and Josh, along with Basildon resident Matthew Riggs, have been working diligently to organize a charity football match set to take place on March 8th at Bowers Football Club. The event has attracted a lineup of celebrity players, including actor Tamer Hassan, Love Island’s Jack Fincham, and The Only Way Is Essex’s Dan Osborne, who have generously offered their time and support for the cause.

“It’s been very easy getting people to sign up for the match, and as soon as they’ve heard about what happened, they’ve been willing to get involved. A lot of people have given their time for free to support the match and the firework display, and I hope as many people as possible come out to show how much they care,” Jude emphasized, highlighting the outpouring of solidarity and unity within the community.

As residents of south Essex prepare to gather for the poignant fireworks event this weekend, the spirit of compassion and togetherness shines brightly, reflecting the resilience and strength of a community united in remembrance and support.
