A man named Steve Crowe, 47, recently appeared in court facing charges for a fatal crash that resulted in the death of an 83-year-old woman and left two others seriously injured. The incident occurred on the A12 southbound towards Howe Green at 8pm on January 3 last year.

Russell Tillett was driving a Vauxhall Zafira with his passenger, Wendy Tillett, when their vehicle was involved in a collision. Both Mr. Tillett and Wendy Tillett sustained serious injuries, while Jennifer Tillett, who was celebrating her 83rd birthday that day, tragically passed away three weeks later due to her injuries.

During the court hearing before Colchester Magistrates’ Court, Crowe confirmed his name, age, and address but did not enter a plea to the charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and causing death by dangerous driving.

Prosecutor Grace Court revealed that Mr. and Wendy Tillett suffered serious injuries, while Jennifer Tillett succumbed to the trauma she sustained in the collision. Jennifer, also known as Anne, was described by her family as the heart of the family, a much-loved Mum, Nanna, sister, aunt, and friend. She was known for her kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness, and great sense of humor. Her family and friends fondly remembered her as someone who loved to laugh with everyone.

Crowe is set to appear before Chelmsford Crown Court on November 26, where he is expected to deny the charges against him.
